Introduction to Major Gift Fundraising (Helsinki)

This one day training introduces you to work strategically with major gifts fundraising. We will cover the process from planning a fundraising strategy to how to practically work with potential major donors.

This training is aimed at people who would like to know more about major gift fundraising in different sectors and does not require any previous experience. Participants in previous training sessions include fundraisers, CEO’s, senior managers and board members – from universities, charities, arts and culture, hospitals and more. The training will be held in English. It is primarily aimed at Finnish organisations but other Nordic participants are also welcome.

  • Seven steps – a methodology for major gift fundraising

 

Price

500 €. Early bird price for registration before 20 August: 350 €, €300 for VaLa members. (VAT added when applicable). Lunch is included in the price.

Note! There is a discount if you combine this training with the advanced training in London in 20-22 November. More information will be posted soon.

Our training leaders

Johan Wennström (CEO, Brakeley Nordic) has worked with universities to develop external relations including fundraising since 1998. Since 2010, he is the CEO for Brakeley Nordic, supporting non-profit organisations with fundraising and major gifts in different sectors. Johan has been actively involved in fundraising for organisations such as Aalto University, Grafikens Hus (museum for printmaking) and SLU Swedish University for Agricultural Sciences. In Finland Johan has also advised organisations such as Arcada, University of Oulu, University of Helsinki and Åbo Akademi University.

Pekka Lehtinen, Senior Associate Consultant
Pekka has been senior associate consultant with Brakeley Nordic since 2019. Until 2018 Pekka worked 23 years at the oldest and one of the leading Finnish corporate law firms. Since 2015 Pekka has been in the Board of Kiasma Support Foundation and he has been acting as the chairman of the Board since 2017. Kiasma is the leading contemporary art museum in Finland.

Åsa Formo, Consultant
Åsa joined Brakeley Nordic in 2016. She previously worked with fundraising, communication and process development at Blomsterfonden, a charity active in healthcare and retirement homes. At Brakeley Åsa works with organizations in the Nordic region within the university sector, civic organizations, the arts and culture sector as well as hospitals. She regularly holds fundraising training, roundtable sessions, seminars and workshops.
